First Orbit - 50 years of Human Spaceflight

April 12, 2011 marks the 50 years of Human Spaceflight!

To Celebrate the 50 years of Human Spaceflight a free film was created and shot entirely on board the International Space Station to recreate the original first orbit of Vostok 1 - carrying the first spaceman in history - Yuri Gagarin. He was the first human being to journey into outer space, when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of the Earth on April 12, 1961.

• The First Orbit (the Movie)

About the Film:

A real time recreation of Yuri Gagarin's pioneering first orbit, shot entirely in space from on board the International Space Station. The film combines this new footage with Gagarin's original mission audio and a new musical score by composer Philip Sheppard.

Awesome Film. Every moment I sat watching this, I feel like I was touring the Earth and wish that I could go on orbit someday and see the Earth through the window... It must be the most amazing thing.

It was a great job of Yuri Gagarin and all others people of USSR for working hard to fulfill this space mission. Thanks Gagarin
